I am a dedicated Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) Occupational Therapist, Expert Witness, and IRCM registered case manager with over 25 years of clinical experience. My work is driven by a commitment to helping children, young people, and their caregivers build independence, confidence, and quality of life.
Empathy Driven by Lived Experience
My professional practice is deeply informed by my personal story. Having served as a young carer from the age of 14, raised a neurodivergent young person, and acted as a care facilitator for my ageing parents, I understand complex family dynamics firsthand. I approach every family with authentic empathy, practical wisdom, and grounded insight.
Pioneering Technology & AI in SEND
Alongside my clinical work, I am pursuing PhD research in Technology-Enhanced Learning at Lancaster University. My academic research explores the intersection of modern technology and occupational therapy:
-
AI and SEND: Safe, practical applications of Artificial Intelligence to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
-
AI Literacy and Ethics: Examining the ethical implications of child-centered AI while building technological literacy.
-
Immersive Platforms: Utilizing Virtual Reality to help young people practice and master real-world life skills.
-
School Integration: Structuring Universal, Targeted, and Specialist technological support within educational settings.
